1 Translation Project: DONE! --> editing process

Alhamdulillah...

Finally I managed to finish the project on time. I am still editing and trying to give a final touch.

As I have mentioned earlier, it wasn't an easy one. I had to put all effort to finally be able to express the words in Indonesian.

However, I learnt a lot from this project. I got some significant points on a translating process. Those are:
  • Just flow, if you're not sure what's the meaning of the phrases, no need to stop coz ur only wasting your time
  • Use more than 1 dictionary, if you really need to
  • Don't always count on the dictionary, try to find your own words
  • Leave it behind for awhile before you start editing

I am glad to be able to translate this novel. Its absurdity reminds me of my final assignment and those days when I used to join a theater and played as L’Infirmière in Le Caillou de Monsieur Pierre. Thankfully I was used to that theme so now I didn't have to get confused by its wierdness.

Like my theater director, Cédric Fassenet, once sang, "La vie est absurde, la vie est absurde..."

Righ Here Still Waiting

I called the publisher yesterday, for it was the last day of the 3 months promise they gave me.

No result, no news, either good or bad. They only said that they were still reading it.

Such a long journey to get acknowledgement as a writer. But I will not lose my patience, no matter what. I will be waiting. I will be trying my best. I'll do whatever it takes to be a writer.

What about you? Any obsession?

My Next Published Short Story in Spice!

I've just been told that my short story will be published in one of the next month's editions of Spice!

I am so excited to get the magazine! It will be my 4th published short story.

Can't wait to see my 1st published novel. Hopefully, it'll be soon enough. Been waiting for 3 months to get the good news (praying that it'll be a good one!). Today I will ask them if they have the good news that I've been dying to hear.

Wish me luck! And don't forget to buy Spice! magazine with my short story in it. I'll let you know which one as soon as possible.

While waiting, why don't you read my very short stories published online? Here.

K.I.S.S

Keep It Short and Simple : KISS

I got it from a website giving some tips on blogs writing.

It says that bloggers should write their blogs as short and simple as possible. Is it true?

I should say, yes. Why? Because most people are scanners. You might also be a scanner. Instead of reading the whole long page, you'd take only some words or sentences or paragraphs that you're interested in. I am right?

I am a scanner in reading a blog or web. Why? Because I don't have that much time and a long staring at the screen sometimes hurts my eyes.

So, I suggest you from now on, it's better to write a short and simple blog but a deep one.

KISS DEEP! ;D

Being A Lot More Creative

In Wiktionary, the definitions of creative are:

1. having the ability to create
2. original, expressive and imaginative

The firts definition is easy to do but when it comes to the second one, people start thinking a lot deeper.

It happened to me lately. I've been creating but am not sure if it's original, expressive or imaginative enough. Been doubting a lot.

But it doesn't stop me from doing what I gotta do. I still do it. I try to do my best.

By the way, the publisher of my translation job sent me an sms today, asking how many % I've finished it. It's already 90%, I replied. But these days, I'm not feeling too well, so continuing is not that easy. Though, I keep trying, and trying, and give my best.

Btw, I need as many luck. Care 2 wish me?

Writing in the Morning

Back then, when I was still working somewhere else and writing was not a part of my job, I used to write at night.

But now, writing is the only list in my job description. I come to the office and I write.

After a week, I learned something. For me, I prefer writing in the morning rather than afternoon. In the morning, I feel a lot fresher. I feel like ideas come easily in my head.

On contrary, in the afternoon, I feel like it's not as easy for my brain to create ideas.

But it doesn't stop me from writing. I use my afternoon office hours for getting information or sources for my writing.

It's all about find the most effective way in working, isn't it?
